Look at the sick one on the new couch!! Poor, poor Ichiro!

So I woke up this morning 30 years old. I really didn’t feel any different, but today I am 30!!! Hard to believe…

So as I was getting my stuff ready for work, Ichiro gave me the beautifully wrapped gift he tortured me with last night. I told him I wasn’t opening it till after work but he insisted and who am I to not do what he insists. I only had to ripe the paper a little to know exactly what it is. Girls know 2 different color boxes. By that I mean, girls know a Tiffany’s box when then see that beautiful blue-green color. We also know that a chocolate brown box belongs to Coach. As I ripped the corner of the wrapping paper and saw the dark chocolate brown box I knew exactly what it was. I absolutely LOVE it and couldn’t believe Ichiro picked it out all on his own!!!

Isn’t it just beautiful!!! So classy!

So I get to work, toting my new bag to show off to all my work friends. Which of course EVERYONE just loved. And my friend Karen made me the best homemade oatmeal cookies every. YUMMY!! While we sat there and ate cookies my cell phone rang. A delivery man was at our house trying to deliver something. I told him I worked all day and the super nice guy offered to bring it to work for me. What a nice guy. I hung up my cell phone and my office phone rang. I had a delivery in the main lobby. Could the guy already be here???

This had to be the best flower arrangement ever!! My sister knows me so well! Her card read, “Happy 30th birthday. Seeing that you can’t have a real margarita to celebrate this big day, I thought this was the second best thing.” IT IS!! I LOVE IT.

This great day continues with Karen, Konnie and Steve taking me to lunch. When we got back to lunch I got a call in my office that there was a second delivery in the lobby.

YUMMY!!! Katie and Doug sent me this awesome arrangement!! It looks soo good and tasted even better! I’ve sent these as gifts before but had never received one. Sooo fun AND sooo yummy. Thanks Katie and Doug!!!

My exciting day continued when I got home… Keith came over and we all went bowling. I couldn’t mess up the Tuesday Bowling night thing. Could you believe I WON the first game…? THAT’S RIGHT!! I WON!!

Ok that’s a few hours early but I it felt like my birthday. What an exciting day, maybe turning 30 won’t be so bad. I said MAYBE!!

I came home from a LONG day of work to some beautiful flowers, a box addressed to the Ashihara family, a bunch of cards and a few phone calls of people who wanted to wish me an early Happy Birthday!

I was told not to open the box until Ichiro and I were together, so I started with the flowers. They were gorgeous!! Thank you Sarah and Matt, I just love them!!! As you can tell I hardly ever get flowers, actually I get them one day a year, Valentines Day. So getting them is pretty exciting to me!!

I waited and waited for Ichiro to get home… FINALLY!!! I ripped open the package addressed to both of us. The return address label said it was from my Mom and Dad. What could it be? What could it be? Check it out, I think she got all the non-pink/blue outfits at the store. I LOVE THEM ALL!! The little yellow bib says “If mom says no, go ask grandma.” How perfect is that?

He even put a bow on it!!!

Earlier in the week Mr and Mrs Ashihara sent me a beautiful watch for my birthday. I love it!!! It’s a Swatch Watch! Looks A LOT different from the old Swatch Watches!!!

What an exciting couple of days!!! And to think it’s not even my real birthday yet!!!

So today we get up at 7 am to wait the delivery of our CORRECT new couch. I was tired but excited. 7:10 we get the call, the truck is 5 minutes away! Yes!!! We pull the Micky Mouse protecting sheets off the “wrong” couch, move the brown chair, the coffee table, lock Inu up upstairs, Haley downstairs and the cats in the basement. We are ready for them. Waiting, waiting, waiting, they’re here…. I see the guy unload the couch, we get the knock on the door… ALMOST FIXED!!!! 🙂

The guy looks…. “Oh wait, Shit… ummmmm……”

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! THEY HAVE THE WRONG COUCH AGAIN!! I can’t believe it.. So we are back to our ghetto new couches….

They now say Wednesday… keep your fingers crossed for us…. 🙁

What an exciting day!! Today Ichiro and I went to our first trimester ultrasound. I was so excited for Ichiro to see our little one on the ultrasound, seeing that he missed the first one. I had no idea what to expect but could not believe what we saw when the doctor first put that wand to my stomach. We have a little baby!!! No longer looks like a blob! Bet you can’t guess what was the first thing out of Ichiro’s mouth… go ahead guess… “WOW, look at that resolution!!!!” Ichiro will always be Ichiro!!! Check out our little baby…

She/He is waving at you!! How freaking cute!!!

In other baby news… Joanna and Shawn welcomed their beautiful daughter this morning at 12:34 am. Avery Maredith Cormier was 7lbs, 2 oz and 20.5 inches long. We had such a great time visiting and I couldn’t believe Shawn got Ichiro to hold Avery.

So I just wrote several pages about my day today and then computer crashed. Ichiro always tells me to SAVE what I’m working on. Did I?? NO!

So I start again (saving every other line!)

My adventure today actually started on Sunday. After breakfast, at our normal place, Ichiro tells me that we were going to Jordan’s to pick out my birthday gift. I couldn’t believe it! I have been complaining about our couches for MONTHS, but Ichiro kept telling me, “No they are fine.” So we walked Jordan’s SEVERAL times and could only agree on ONE couch. That’s right, only ONE. It’s a sectional (Ichiro’s choice) but still modern, comfy, and with no 80’s style arms (my choice.) I couldn’t believe it!! We were getting a new couch!! I was so excited!!

All week, I have been counting the days and last night I had a hard time sleeping!! During the week we moved stuff around, moving the love seat to the dining room, Ichiro rewired all the electrical stuff, and then this morning we went to move the large sofa bed into the dining room. Guess what we learned today. The two doors into our family room are different sizes. We couldn’t fit the large sofa into the dining room. I will give you one guess where that couch ended up. I looked around the 1/2 empty room and decided I couldn’t bring new couches into this dirty room. So I call my mom!! hahhaa She tells me to wash the walls, take down the curtains, and sweep the floor. “THEN it will feel better” she tells me. Mom’s are always right!!! I took down the curtains, bleached the walls, and swept the floors. The room looked great and just in time because I could see the delivery truck outside.

I couldn’t stand it I was so excited. So they try to bring in the first piece. They have a lot trouble and the guy actually said “We were lucky,” he didn’t think it was going to fit. Whatever, it was in my living room!! I was so excited. Ok, it was WAY bigger then original thought but whatever it looked so nice against the bleached walls!! So the men went out for the second part. I couldn’t stand it, I started to IM Ichiro. Again they have trouble with the second part, but they get it in. As they are putting non scratch things on the bottom of the feet, I begin to think something looks a little funny. So I say, “Ummm how does this work??” “You just hook them together,” he says to me. So I say, “But there are to many arms?” During this entire time I am thinking “PLEASE DON’T BE WRONG!” The man turns around and says “ohhhh nooo.”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The nice guy tells me that I should tell the Service guy on the phone that I am having company tonight and need couches and that they are not allowed to take the wrong couch back. He assures me that leaving the wrong couch will make them replace is faster, seeing that i don’t actually own this couch. So I tell the Service guy this and he tells me he will call me back with a time they can do the replacement. OK 🙁

So I wait and wait and wait for the phone call, my hopes of them coming today getting less and less. Finally they call and tell me they only have time to pick up the couches NEXT week, Thursday or Friday. SO I say “Next week??” and the man says, “Yes, that’s all we have.” There was silence and I say, “OK, but just to let you know, I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and I am trying my hardest to not let them on this couch I don’t own but this is going to be a problem for an entire week. I just want you to know this.” hahaha I get, “Please hold.” 2 minutes later he tells me they will be there on Saturday!! hahhaha I WIN!!!

Not much has been going on in the Ashihara house, however tonight we actually left the house. I might be pregnant but I couldn’t miss Matt’s birthday bash!!! We started the evening at Matt and Katie’s and ended it at a cute Irish bar in Haverhill. I wasn’t out THAT long but we had a great time seeing everyone.

It’s Valentine’s Day, the one day a year I receive flowers. And BOY, did he do good this year!!! Ichiro was such a smart man and had them delivered to work a day early. I guess he just knew we would have a SNOW DAY today. They are beautiful and there were soo many I couldn’t fit them all in one vase. 3 doz!!! Can you stand it!! I ended up leaving half a work and bring half home to enjoy here. Look how lovely! I love that man!!!
Like I said today was Boston’s first real snow storm. We got about 6 inches. I think, I haven’t actually been outside. Pooor Ichiro, had to go to to work! hahhhaha

So last night I met up with Matt, Katie, Kristy and Austin for some “drinks”. I really had a great time and it was great to see everyone. Matt and Katie are great and know Ichiro and I pretty well… Look what they got the baby… Katie said it’s called “iPop your baby!” hahahaha Its sooo Ichiro!, he LOVES IT! Thanks Matt and Katie!!!
