After we signed Noby up for Preschool last week the teacher said he could start the week he turns 3. She then asked if Noby was potty trained. “Ummm No,” I said “but he will come Sept 21!” Well I knew this could take a while so we decided to start right away! I did a little research online and found a plan called “3 Day Potty Training.” Why not, right? After reading it I didn’t think Noby was ready for her hard core methods so we adapted it to fit our lifestyle. Basically instead of cutting out all diapers AND pull ups cold turkey, we are using pull ups only at naptime and night time. We are calling them special sleeping underwear. I attempted one nap without them and it wasn’t pretty so pull ups it is for now!
So we started this project on Friday. Noby woke up in the morning and I quickly changed him into big boy pants. The 3 Day Plan says to keep asking Noby to tell me when HE has to go potty. But he quickly had two accidents and I couldn’t stick with that. SO for the rest of the day I asked Noby if he needed to sit on the potty. Sometimes he said yes and sometimes no. Sometimes I made him sit on the potty and he would go. Even just a little bit. But I considered that going and he got a sticker and some candy for it!! We tried to make it as fun as possible. Like I said the first day I tried to have Noby nap without a pull up. When I went up to get him the entire bed was wet. Everything in it, everything. I quickly called Ichiro to pick up pull ups on the way home! haha. The rest of the day Noby was accident free! I was so proud of him, he sat on the potty when I asked him to and would go even a little bit. I think the first day he got something like 12 stickers!!!
Day two (Saturday) I woke up and decided that maybe I should be following the plan more. I decided I would just remind Noby to tell me when he had to go. Well quickly he had another accident and I decided that the 3 Day Potty Training plan was not for us. Noby went the rest of the day accident free! Of course we haven’t left the house and I continue to sit Noby on the potty.
Day three (Sunday) We have been accident free thus far. We continue to sit Noby on the potty and use pull ups for sleeping. But it’s working. He loves to get the stickers and isn’t even worried about the candy so much. He’s proud when he knows you are. It’s really great. We haven’t made number 2 on the potty yet but hopefully he will get that soon.
I’m a little nervous about tomorrow. I have a dr apt in the morning and am not sure if Noby is ready to leave the house for over an hour in big boy underwear. I’m not sure if I should use a pull up or just see if he can hold it. I guess I’ll see how I feel in the morning!
Here are a few pictures from our last 3 days…. Yes, he hasn’t been dressed in 3 days!!
