Yesterday, on our way to pick Noby up at school, I scarred Koji for life.

As we were driving I heard something on the roof of the car, I slid back the shade of the sunroof to realize it was just some snow sliding around.   I closed the shade and we continued on our way.  So because I checked my sunroof, Koji was going crazy that he wanted to see his sunroof.  He kept crying, pointing to the shade.  Since we were running a little late to get Noby I wasn’t going to pull over to open the shade, so I just reached back to flick the shade open.  No problem, right?  WRONG!!! I had NO idea there was a button to open the sunroof EXACTLY where I tried to flick open the shade.  Needless to say the sunroof opened and a HUGE amount of snow fell in the car.  It fell RIGHT on Koji’s head.  There was snow EVERYWHERE!!  All over Koji’s carseat, down his shirt, all over the floor.  On one hand I had to laugh at myself, on the other hand I now had a scared 2 year old crying uncontrollable.  I pulled over and removed as much of the snow as I could, then continued on to get Noby.  Koji cried the entire ride to the school, he refused to get back in the car after picking up Noby, then cried the entire ride home.  Poor kid.

The kids were so excited that Memere and Buddy came for the weekend.   We hung out, took a trip to Ikea, and had a movie night.  Very low key, very relaxing, exactly what we needed!!

Now that the walls are painted I needed a few new things to make the room complete…

A new ceiling light!  We took down the ceiling fan that didn’t work (because we lost the remote for it!) and added this awesome paper lantern light.  It really does give off the best light at night!! So relaxing!

A new glass panel for our wall-light-art-thingie!  We happen to be in Ikea where we saw a new panel for the wall light.  It just happened to have the exact blue we painted the wall.  We just HAD to get it!! lol

New curtains and shades!!!  These pictures came out dark so it’s kind of hard to tell but there is a little blue in those curtains!!  Love them!

New wall art!!  Got this to go above the TV, again I just LOVE IT!!!

The baby is due in only a few weeks and now that the car is taken care of I’ve been hit with the nesting bug!  It’s crazy how this pregnancy thing works!! lol  I find myself not being able to empty the dishwasher without cleaning the silverware drawer or dusting the cabinets first.  Or the other day I went grocery shopping but couldn’t put the food away until I cleaned the refrigerator.  Well my next idea was a little crazy, I knew it was but having the best husband in the world, well he just goes along with my craziness.  A few days ago I told him I wanted to paint the living room.  Since I moved in with Ichiro, in 2001, I’ve painted every room in this house, every room expect the living room.  And as you all know this room needed a few holes patched and a new coat of paint.  The problem is with all the electronic hooked up it’s hard to move anything around, especially to paint.  But he finally agreed!! I guess he couldn’t argue with a crazy pregnant lady!!!

He even let me pick a crazy blue color for one of the walls.  Of course Ichiro didn’t want me on the ladder so he had to do all the upper walls!

Ichiro hates to paint so it meant a lot that he was willing to do this for me!

Our newest addiction in this house is our nightly dance parties.  Both Noby and Koji get so into it!  It’s fun to watch AND fun to join in!  Next time you’re over, ask for a Dance Party!

With the new baby coming in less then a month, Ichiro and I knew we needed to figure out the car situation.  What’s the problem?  Well, we aren’t able to fit 3 car seats in the back of the Envoy.  I’ve always said “I’ll NEVER drive a minivan,” and Ichiro has been great looking at SUVs with third rows.  I thought a smaller SUVs with a third row would be perfect, but after checking them out I realized that there is NO truck space for the double strollers and no leg room in the third row.  Also the way you had to put the second row forward to get in the third row meant both Noby and Koji would had to sit in the way back.  So then we looked at the bigger SUVs and although the trunk space was much better, I felt like I was driving a tank.  They were just way to big.  Soooo…..

We looked at some minivans and it turns out they really are the perfect family car!!!  Tonight both Ichiro and I traded in our single life cars (his Jeep and my Cabrio) and got a MINIVAN!

It’s a 2011 Toyota Sienna and it’s awesome!!

Last night Ichiro and I rang in the New Year “Ashihara Style.”  That means we hung out on the couch by ourselves!! lol Well not totally by ourselves…

Every year we video chat with our good friends Bill and Jeanene!!  Being hundreds of miles away doesn’t mean we can’t count down the New Years together!  It’s funny cause each year we take some of these funny face pictures.  We laugh and laugh like we’re 5 years old!!!
