My second attempt at cookie decorating came this weekend when I tried to make some birthday cookies for a friend. Matt turned the big 33 this week and Katie invited us to their place to celebrate. Of course I wasn’t 100% satisfied with how they looked but I took them anyway. (Ichiro actually made me!) Everyone loved them and in the end I was happy I took them!!
Another highlight of being in CT is being able to see some friends that I don’t get to see very often. This week the boys and I got together with Kelly, Avery and Ari. We tried to get the kids to sit together for a picture but as you can tell that didn’t really work out! haha
I love that both Koji and Ari are like, “WHAT’S GOING ON?”
This week is school vacation week and I knew we would never make it through the week if we stayed home. So I packed the car on Monday and the boys and I headed down to CT for a few days. It was great to have my mom to talk to all day and the daycare kids for Noby to play with!
Here they are playing play-dough…
playing the elephant game…
watching a movie…
Koji also had a great time…
And thanks to my mom, I even got some time to work on my scrap booking….
This morning Ichiro’s parents called and said that they were headed to Mohegan Sun to check it out. We decided to head down and spend a couple of hours with them. It was such a fun day and a nice visit.
After we got dinner at the Summer Shack. Noby was the big winner of the day. He got a red truck a helicopter AND ice cream!
It has been so long since we have gone out like we did last night! A club night WITH the best DJ in the world!! It really couldn’t get any better, ok maybe the set could have been longer! The night was perfect, awesome music and the best of friends!!!
We started the night with a yummy Thai dinner, and drinks of course!
I love PVD’s finger dance!
And love it even more when he gets into the music!
Check out the amazing lasers that our friend Shane controlled last night!!
We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day!! Ours was a little crazy. I thought everyone was getting back to normal, health wise at least. Ichiro went back to work today and Noby and I got his stuff together for his Valentine’s Day party at school tomorrow. That was until Koji started to act very clingy. He was burning up and I knew right away he now had a fever. I called the doctor and they wanted to see him at 6:30. Happy Valentine’s Day!! haha Ichiro came home to watch Noby while I ran Koji up to Peabody during rush hour! The doctor told me exactly what I already knew, Koji had a little cold, he needed to rest and could have some Tylenol for the fever. The funny part of the office visit was that we were in the office for about 15 minutes and TWO different doctors told me that Koji had the best haircut they have ever seen on a baby!! They couldn’t believe it when I told them it was a natural mohawk!
Being stuck in the house since Tuesday gave me a LOT of free time to surf the internet. You all know that ALWAYS leads to trouble. For a while now I’ve been wanting to try making and decorating fancy sugar cookies. I follow a few different sites where the women make the coolest decorated cookies, with the smoothest frosting. I wanted to see if this is something I could do! So today I ran out to pick up the supplies I needed to try this new craft!
I thought I would start with just some simple Valentine hearts. I baked the cookies, made the frosting and then started the piping. I had a little trouble keeping the outline straight. I think maybe my frosting was a little thick. Next time I’ll have to thin it out a little before trying the outline. Next I tried what they called flooding. It was a little easier, but it still didn’t come out perfect, so of course I was a little disappointed. I have a feeling I’ll be making a lot of cookies so I can practice these new techniques!
