I haven’t been very good at updating the blog lately. Things have just been busy here and the last thing on my mind is updating. I know it’s a lame excuse. Many people have been asking for updates and pictures of our progress on the room, so here goes.
This past weekend my parents came up to celebrate Noby’s 3 birthday with us!!! Of course it didn’t go as planned because upon arriving my mother thought our time would be better spent getting Noby’s big boy room ready. In the end I have to agree it was the right move. And I’m so happy how much we got done! We aren’t actually done yet but at least the room is painted (for the most part!) Check it out!
I know what you’re thinking… “Is that a BLUE ceiling??” BUT just wait till my vision is done!!! I can’t wait!
Today Noby participated in what will be his first of many graduations! I could hardly believe it when I saw him with the little hat on, there were tears in my eyes! We have been going to Early Intervention “school” for a year and a half now and everyone that has been involved with Noby’s success has been amazing. The entire EI team has truly been like a family to us. Noby has come so far and we can’t thank all his teachers enough!!!
Check out how cute Noby was in his graduation hat!
Today Noby and I headed to his preschool orientation. He looked so cute in his new clothes.
Orientation started off well. He walked in, started saying “Hello” to everyone. He was not nervous at all, he actually was having a great time playing with all the new toys. Then all of a sudden, well as more kids arrived, everything became “MINE.” He wouldn’t share any of the toys, even if he was finished playing with something and walked away, he came back to the toy and started screaming, “MINE, MINE!” He was THAT kid. It was hard for me because it was the start of EI all over again. The other parents just watched and stared. They waited to see how I was going to react. I did my best but was clearly frustrated. He didn’t want any part of circle time, or reading a store. Nothing like our normal Noby, it was heart breaking.
The teachers feel like he’ll be fine. Next week I’ll just be dropping him off at the playground and the teachers feel like he’ll do fine. Maybe even better without me around. I guess we’ll find out! haha
My mom came up this long weekend and we made a lot of progress on getting the house ready for the new baby! I was hoping we might have some time to play but it was all business!! I guess there’s more to be done then I thought!! I would never have gotten so much done without her!! She really keeps you focused!!
Check it out…
First we went through about 4 bins of clothes that were once Noby’s and now will be for the new baby. I guess that is one HUGE plus for having a second child the same sex as the first! Noby had so much clothes that many of the outfits were only worn once to twice. We washed all the smaller sizes and filled the baby’s dresser. We also moved all of Noby’s clothes into his new dresser and organized his closet. Once his new room is ready we can just transfer the hanging clothes to his new closet. We also washed all the blankets, burping clothes and sheets so they would be washed in the special detergent.
We also worked on my closet! Which made me super excited. From this angle it looks like our old closet, lots of clothes..
turning clockwise you get the sink and the dresser that was moved into the closet. I still need to get one hook for the side wall for all the hats on top of the dresser. It will fit nicely under the hook for my necklaces.
Next we moved the makeup cabinet to this wall. I got rid of a ton of stuff so the bottom half of the cabinet is used for some small crafting stuff.
And my favorite part of all… Don’t look at the mess on the desk, that should be cleaned tonight. I just need to have Ichiro hang one thing. But all the crafts have been organized into this area. I got plastic bins to organize; one for knitting, one for sewing (ok maybe two for sewing), one for card making and a few for scrapbooking. I love how I was able to hang the curly ribbon from under the shelf.
There was great progress made in Noby’s new room too. Ichiro finished running all the wires, hung all the drywall and taped most of it! Also the closet doors came in AND we get measured for carpet tomorrow!!! Things are falling into place!!
I almost forgot to show you what Ichiro and I did this week….
YUP!!! That’s our closet!! Now it’s the closet/craft room. I’m so excited with how it turned out. It looks EXACTLY like I pictured it in my head! My husband is good!!
I couldn’t wait to start loading things back in!!! Pictures to come!
Yesterday our good friends Matt and Katie welcomed the cutest little girl into the world. Audrey Elsa was born at 7:08 pm, weighing 7 lb 8 oz. Tonight we headed to the hospital to have a little visit with them!
