Taizo was sleeping in his swing and there’s a TON of snow outside, so it was the perfect time to get the kids outside to enjoy the snow. Koji is still a little freaked out about snow, ever since I dropped all that snow on his head in the car but after a little bit he warmed up and had a good time out there.
There was so much snow in the backyard!!!
Koji didn’t like the idea of snow in the car!!
“You wouldn’t hit your mother, would you??” YES, yes he would! lol
Daddy trying out the snowball thrower…
SOOO much snow outback!
I love this picture, it shows neighbors helping neighbors!!
The snow is coming! That’s all that everyone is talking about, the Blizzard of 2013!
We knew the snow was going to start in a few hours. My brain was saying be smart and leave those kids home but my heart was saying Noby and Koji needed to meet their little brother. So having the best husband around, Ichiro headed home to pick up the boys and bring them to the hospital for a couple of hours. It was awesome! I loved to see their reactions!
Koji just wanted to touch him and kiss him, he was VERY interested!!
They were even sporting their Big Brother shirts!
Taizo peeking out to meet his Auntie…
We were able to pose for a quick family picture…
And then the snow started. Here are the boys watching the snow fall…
We wanted to get the boys safe at home before the snow got bad. Originally the plan was for Brenda to stay with the boys while we were at the hospital but the storm coming, we decided it would be better for Ichiro to be home. Here’s Ichiro saying goodbye to Taizo…
After 5 days of waiting, Taizo Howard Ashihara has finally arrived!
It all started last night. Contractions were about 10 minutes apart. We called Brenda to have her come over because we just knew it was going to happen. I was sure of it. I called the doctor but they said 10 minutes was still to far away to come in. She said to hang and try to get some sleep. I took a shower and ended up falling asleep, waking up with every contraction. In the morning they were still about 10 minutes apart but with the blizzard fast approaching we decided to head to the hospital anyway. I had contractions the entire ride to the hospital (in rush hour traffic), including parking the car and heading to the delivery floor. The nurses admitted me, hooked me up to the monitors, and for the next two hours I had NOT ONE contraction. ZERO! NOT ONE!! I couldn’t believe it. And as we sat behind the curtain, other women came into the monitoring room. I could hear them breathing through their contractions, which just got me more upset! The nurses ended up sending us home. I was so disappointed!
The minute we got home and I walked in the house, yup, you know it, the contractions started again. I tried to work though them. I picked up around the house, even washed the kitchen floor. But they just kept getting worse. Ichiro thought we should head back to the hospital but I didn’t want to, in fear that the same thing would happen. Around 2pm I couldn’t stand it anymore and agreed to call my doctors office. They told me to come in and they would monitor me. I was at the doctors 15 minutes later and was so relieved when they said I was 5cm and should head right to the hospital.
This time at the hospital the nurse took us right into the delivery room. It was nice to see some of the same nurses from the morning. They were all pleased to see us back. I ordered the epitdural right way and it wasn’t long till I was VERY comfortable!
Here I am sending texts to everyone…
Ichiro was taking pictures of my contractions… See that was a big one but I didn’t feel a thing!!
That actually ended up being a little problem The epidural was working so well that even when I was 10cm, I couldn’t feel the contractions and therefor didn’t know when to push. The doctor said if I didn’t start to feel things in about 15 minutes they would just tell me when to push. Well it worked and by 9:30 started to feel something. And after 2 sets of 3 pushes, Taizo Howard Ashihara was born.
Not a happy camper…
He wasn’t very impressed with me, already giving me the fingers…
Yesterday, on our way to pick Noby up at school, I scarred Koji for life.
As we were driving I heard something on the roof of the car, I slid back the shade of the sunroof to realize it was just some snow sliding around. I closed the shade and we continued on our way. So because I checked my sunroof, Koji was going crazy that he wanted to see his sunroof. He kept crying, pointing to the shade. Since we were running a little late to get Noby I wasn’t going to pull over to open the shade, so I just reached back to flick the shade open. No problem, right? WRONG!!! I had NO idea there was a button to open the sunroof EXACTLY where I tried to flick open the shade. Needless to say the sunroof opened and a HUGE amount of snow fell in the car. It fell RIGHT on Koji’s head. There was snow EVERYWHERE!! All over Koji’s carseat, down his shirt, all over the floor. On one hand I had to laugh at myself, on the other hand I now had a scared 2 year old crying uncontrollable. I pulled over and removed as much of the snow as I could, then continued on to get Noby. Koji cried the entire ride to the school, he refused to get back in the car after picking up Noby, then cried the entire ride home. Poor kid.
Today I snapped these pictures of him on our ride to and from getting Noby…
He’s stopped crying however Koji now refuses to open his eyes…
Every time I ask him to look at me he just covers his face with his hands…
The kids were so excited that Memere and Buddy came for the weekend. We hung out, took a trip to Ikea, and had a movie night. Very low key, very relaxing, exactly what we needed!!
Now that the walls are painted I needed a few new things to make the room complete…
A new ceiling light! We took down the ceiling fan that didn’t work (because we lost the remote for it!) and added this awesome paper lantern light. It really does give off the best light at night!! So relaxing!
A new glass panel for our wall-light-art-thingie! We happen to be in Ikea where we saw a new panel for the wall light. It just happened to have the exact blue we painted the wall. We just HAD to get it!! lol
New curtains and shades!!! These pictures came out dark so it’s kind of hard to tell but there is a little blue in those curtains!! Love them!
New wall art!! Got this to go above the TV, again I just LOVE IT!!!
Thanks again Ichiro!!! I just love our new living room!!
