Saturday we got up early, visited with Ichiro’s parents for a little bit and then headed north. Our plan was to stop at the Maher’s house, where the Bajkos were going to meet us! I couldn’t wait to get there and hang out with the girls. It’s been far to long! Once again we had a fabulous time visiting and the kids played great together.
Noby getting a little more play time on Yoyo’s iPad…
After two hours in the car, Noby was ready to run around outside. While the mommies stayed inside the nice warm house with the babies, the daddies went outside with the older kids.
At some point the Dads thought it would be a great idea to build a fire in the middle of Sarah’s backyard. They actually never got the fire lit but they did put the kids to work gathering firewood… (Sorry Sarah, for the pile of wood/rocks in the middle of your backyard!”
We were more then excited to hear that the DeMiceli’s were going to be in NY for Thanksgiving! And Friday afternoon we headed over to Jed’s parents for a short visit! I LOVE it when we can hang out with Jed and Marcy. They are such fabulous people! Some of the nicest, most laid back people we know. Every time we say goodbye, I turn to Ichiro and say “wish we lived closer!”
Marcy and I sat in the living room, why the guys talked cameras in the kitchen! haha
Maya was smitten with Koji! She was kept asking to hold him…
This year the Ashihara’s had a large crowd on Thanksgiving. Most of the people were from the office but two of them were Ichiro’s second cousins. Masako lives in NY and we get to see her every Thanksgiving. Mitsuki is 16, she’s attending boarding school in Utah and was staying with the Ashihara’s for her break. She had never been to NY before and as you can imagine was having the time of her life! Noby took a liking to Mitsuki right away and several times during the day I found him downstairs where she was staying. I told her if he was to much to just let me know and I would take him away. Turns out she really enjoyed hanging out with him and later that weekend we found hundreds of photos of them on her facebook. Here are a few of my favorites…
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year! We got up early and left Medford heading west. This year we were making a pit stop in Suffield on our way to NY. My parents were hosting Thanksgiving for the Hansens and Aunt Karen and Uncle Pete were in from Chicago to celebrate with them. It would be the perfect time to stop, feed the kids and visit with everyone!
This would be the first time for Koji to meet Great Grandma…
and of course Aunt Karen and Uncle Pete…
Uncle Pete gave Koji his first hunting hat!
Noby needed a family picture for school next week, we attempted to take one…
After our nice visit we got back in the car and headed south for some turkey!!
It’s almost time to decorate for Christmas!! I love decorating for Christmas! I just love Christmas!! This year we are having Christmas in BOSTON!! That’s right! It’s time for us to have Noby wake up in his own bed, then come down to see what Santa left him. It’s a HUGE change for us, ok for ME, but I know it’s time! Sooo now my decorating has to be stepped up a notch!
This year I went out and found our little family some matching stockings! I’m very excited about them, just need to get our names put on them. But because we don’t have a fireplace and I debating where to hang them. I’ve seen a few different ideas that I like but I’m not sure Ichiro will go for them.
Example… Do you think I can convince Ichiro to hang a long branch in the living room?
Or do you think I can convince him to let me buy antique ski?
I love fall and everything that comes along with it. The colors, the smells and mostly the taste!! That’s right, I love the tastes of fall! The tastes of fall (to me) include ANYTHING pumpkin, cinnamon, warm apples. When the weather gets cooler, I start to crave warm apple cider, fresh apple donuts, and ANYTHING pumpkin! I get so excited when you start to see pumpkin show up on menus. I love that first day I walk into Starbucks to see the Pumpkin Spice Latte back on the menu, then it’s all down hill from there! The grocery store gets in the pumpkin spice creamer (YUMM!) and Dunkin Donuts start making the pumpkin donuts (you should pass on DD pumpkin coffee!) I end up making pumpkin cookies, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, mini pumpkin pies and of course pumpkin seeds. I will try anything that is advertised with pumpkin because 9 out of 10 times it’s going to be yummy. So you can guess how excited I was at the grocery store when I was searching for an ice cream treat for Noby and came across this….BEN AND JERRY’S PUMPKIN CHEESECAKE ICE CREAM! The description says “Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream with a Graham Cracker Swirl” and I knew I had to give it a try. So it really is just pumpkin cheesecake ice cream with graham cracker swirled into it, that’s it. It seems basic for Ben and Jerry but I think that’s what makes it so amazing!
All I have to say is that IT’S AWESOME and because it’s a “Limited Batch” I might just have to stock the freezer!
Who doesn’t love getting a little blue box in the mail? They always look perfect, with the perfect white bow. And you know there’s going to be something beautiful inside!
Well today a little blue box arrived with Koji’s name on it. It was from his Gigi and Yoyo and inside was the cutest little gift. A darling silver fork and spoon set, with his name on it. So cute!
Today the boys and I met up with some friends from EI! Lisa and I have been emailing each other since Noby’s last day at Early Intervention. We’ve wanted to set up a play date for Carolyn and Noby and finally it’s happened!
We decided to meet up at Monkey Joe’s in Danvers! Monkey Joe’s is an indoors inflatable play gym full of bouncy houses, blow up slides and obstacle courses. We arrived when they opened at 10 and had the entire gym to ourselves for about an hour. It was great! Noby had never been there before so this was a perfect time for Carolyn to show him the ropes! The kids had an amazing time and this play date might end up being a weekly thing!
He looked so little in the blow ups…
Coming around the corner…
Carolyn just hanging out…
It’s a long way up…
We weren’t sure he liked it after this first trip down… but he did go back!
This is the start of the obstacle course, look how little he is between Monkey Joe’s legs…
He did sooo well, a few times I got nervous but I should have known he could handle it…
Noby’s only in preschool, so I’m sure you can understand my surprise when I opened his backpack last week to find homework! That’s right homework!! The class is going to make a classroom turkey, and everyone was asked to decorate a “feather” for the turkey. I’m not complaining, it was actually pretty fun to do with him, and of course we took photos….
We started with some dot paints…
Added some jewels…
A little glue… (i love his face…)
And then GLITTER!! Come on, who doesn’t love glitter?
