Today Mom and I took Noby and the daycare kids to the CT Trolley Museum. The kids had a great time not only riding two different trolley cars but exploring the retired cars in the museum.
As we waited for the trolley to come back to the station we were able to play with the Thomas the Train set. I was nervous that Noby wouldn’t want to leave this area but to my surprise he had no problem when I said it was time to go.
We also explored the retired cars that were in the museum. Some of the cars were so old you were not able to go inside but many were open to the public.
The girls…
Noby “driving” the car…
Next we headed outside to board the trolley. First we needed to get our tickets punched.
Ready to go…
Not a great picture of me but it’s not often I get one of Noby AND me!
Tonight I cleaned out about 6 or 7 more totes that I had stored up in my parents attic, only 3 left up there! It’s so fun to go through the totes and see what kind of “treasures” are in them! Tonight I again found things that were from college, things from high school, things from elementary school and even things from when I was just born!!!
First I found a tote filled with t shirts and corduroys that I wore in college. Apparently I wore ALOT of corduroys! I don’t exactly remember that but I seemed to have them in every color! I also LOVED t shirts!! I knew that was true but I had no idea how many I had kept. Many of them didn’t even look worn and many of them were UMF shirts!! Having a beaver as the mascot, UMF could make some pretty funny t shirts!
I also found some art projects from UMF. One of my favorite classes was “Art In the Classroom.” It was a class where we basically made art project that we might make with a class full of students. This project was paper mache, and I made a moose! Noby had a great time playing with it…
Well until he sat on it and the legs broke! haha
I also found a crazy amount of glasses from UMF. Coffee mugs, beer mugs all with some type of UMF function on it! I guess Mainers love their liquids!!
One of the best finds of the night was in the last tote I cleaned out. Cards! “Cards?” you ask? YES CARDS!!! Check it out… Yup those say “Happy 1st Birthday” and they are MINE!!! My mom kept all my cards…
TILL MY 7TH BIRTHDAY!!! Each year had it’s clearly marked envelope!!! YUP that’s my mom for ya!!!!
She also had THIS box of cards…. can you tell what they are??
Those are cards that SHE got when I was born!! Check it out… “congrats on the arrival of REBECCA!!!!!”
Ohhh and I found this note from Brenda, it’s from 1985. She apparently gave me a bible for my confirmation. I love the PS part about if I can’t read the note I should ask her…. hummm but if I can’t read it??? PS. Brenda you still sign your name EXACTLY like that!!
Today Noby and I headed to Farmington to spend the day with Sarah, Mo and the kids! We has such a great time! Because the kids play so well together it made for such a relaxing afternoon. There was no screaming, no fighting, only laughing and lots of hugs! It was like the kids have been together since the beach. And they were all excited to see each other! It was awesome!! I only wish this wasn’t the last week of the summer and we had planned more play dates like this one!
Bodie working his moves on Breanna!
The boys watching Breanna on the ATV, waiting patiently for their turns!
There was lots of swimming!
And turns on the ATV! Noby loved it! To bad our house doesn’t have the yard for one!
Today Noby and I headed north to visit with Memere and Buddy for a few days. It was such a nice day here that we spent the afternoon outside. The kids loved playing in the pool!
After we put Noby to bed Mom and I starting going through the large number of totes I have in stored in her attic. I have totes from high school, totes from College and some from “times I don’t even remember.” I have a tote of EMPTY CD cases (why?), a tote of dishes, totes of teaching materials, a tote of Dr Martins, a tote of yearbooks, tote of children books that would one day be used for my classroom (HAHA), and a few more totes of random, I mean RANDOM crap!! Here are a few things I found in one of the college totes…
Awwwwww UMF Memories!
Frost Heave?? What the hell is a frost heave?
Do you know what THIS is… HINT: Hours and hours of work that should have been spent studying!
Ohhh from my favorite class, Art In The Classroom! Entitled, A Brontosaurus Of Different Colors!”
Ichiro was planning some demo on Noby’s new room and we both thought it would be better if Noby and I (cause of the new baby) were not around for the process. Because Noby had such high lead levels when he was younger and the fact that we’re still not 100% sure what caused it, we didn’t want to put either kid at risk with the construction dust. So Ichiro kicked us out. Told us to come back in a few days. So what better place for Noby and I to hide out then the beach!
Today after my doctors appointment we headed down to Westerly for a couple of day. Today didn’t turn out to be a great beach day so instead Kathy and I took Noby to Mystic Aquarium for a few hours. Noby loved it!!! When we first arrived he saw a sign for the penguins and soon he was waddling around like a little penguin. Once inside he wasn’t sure what tank to look at first. He was running from tank to tank, pointing while he ohhh-ed and awww-ed!
Of course I forgot both my camera and cell phone. Good thing Kathy is always prepared!
Last night Brenda and Noby made us a VERY yummy dinner and I decided that it needed a spot on the blog. I know this is a recipe that will be made over and over again!! Hope you enjoy it too!
12 large napa (Chinese) cabbage leaves (about 8 ounces)
1/4 cup chopped unsalted, dry-roasted peanuts
Preparation
1. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add ginger and turkey to pan; cook 7 minutes or until turkey is done, stirring frequently. Drain turkey mixture; place in a large bowl. Add green onions and next 8 ingredients (through jalapeño); toss well. Spoon 1/3 cup turkey mixture into each cabbage leaf. Top with peanuts.
Today, Brenda saved the day and again took Noby so that Ichiro and I could continue to work on the bedroom. She’s been such a great help! I can’t imagine having Noby hanging all over us as we try to work. It’s nice to know Noby’s off having a great time with his Auntie!!
Today, Lizzy and the boys came over to have a little play date. It’s been a while since we saw them so we knew the boys would have fun. It’s not often they make it out to Medford so today was treat to have them here at our house. We even had a little picnic on the kitchen floor!
Today Noby and I hit the beach, just the two of us. It actually worked out nice, we only brought what we could carry in one trip from the car, we sat right in front of the water, and as the tide moved out, we slowly moved our chair closer to the water.
