What a mess!! As many of you know my parents lost power this weekend. There was a HUGE snow storm, IN OCTOBER!! With the leaves still on the trees and the added weight of the snow, trees broke like toothpicks and power lines are down all over CT. They have been without powers for a couple of days now, and I have been worried sick!! No house phone, no cell phone, no internet. I was about to drive myself to Suffield to check on them when I put out a plead on Facebook! Thank goodness we have awesome friends in Suffield! Within minutes, Dawn jumped in her car and drove over to check on my parents! I also have some amazing in-laws that offered up their generator!! The only question was, how would we get that to Suffield? We thought we could drive to NY after work, then to Suffield to set the generator up, then back to Medford for work in the morning. Brenda offered to watch the boys. Do I have an awesome husband or what?? Well believe it or not, Ryan (who lives in Suffield), offered to go to NY to pick up the generator for Ichiro. That saved Ichiro 4 hours of driving that night!! Like I said I can’t believe what amazing friends we have!!
So the only problem with this plan was that today is Halloween!! We didn’t want the boys to miss trick or treating but I also didn’t want Ichiro to drive 8 hours during the night all by himself. I was torn. BUT because Ryan saved us so much driving time, we decided that Ichiro would go alone. He would meet Ryan in Suffield, set up the generator and then come home. This meant I could take the kids trick or treating!!
For the past couple years we have gone trick or treating with Lizzy and her boys. After we head back to their house for pizza. It’s become our tradition and all 6 of the boys look forward to it! I was excited that we were able to keep with tradition, even if Ichiro missed out this year!! Lizzy isn’t big on pictures of her kids on the net so here are few of just our boys!
Ding dong…
Koji got two candies at the first house and decided he was done!
But not Noby, trick or treat!
Someone was pretty happy!
No smiles but Koji was also pretty happy! See how he he hasn’t put down those two candies!
We LOVE trick or treating!
