Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mommies out there!!! Especially to my wonderful Mother!!! She’s not only an amazing mom but also one of my best friends!! She truly is the best!! I hope all my mother readers had a day full of pampering!
My Mother’s Day proved to be not only awesome but very interesting too. It started off with Ichiro letting me sleep in! That was AWESOME! When I finally got up, around 9 (Yes, that’s sleeping in for me!) I came downstairs to a beautiful bouquet of flowers and cards from Ichiro and the boys. 🙂 Just Perfect!
Noby also made me a card and gift at school, check them out…
a beautiful picture of me…
Inside it reads, “I love my Mom because… she eats ice cream. Love Noby” And YES, that’s an ice cream cone on the top. lol
And he came home with a little gift, this beautiful bracelet. My heart melted cause he was so excited to give it to me. It’s better than my Pandora!! 🙂 (YES that’s a Christmas tree bead and a blue starfish that pokes you when you have it on!)haha
Then Ichiro and the boys took me out to breakfast, YUMM!!
Next we headed back to Waltham to the Steampunk Festival that we didn’t make on Saturday cause of rain. Sunday’s weather was just beautiful and I was excited to get out and walk around. Now I’m sure many of you are asking, “What the hell is Steampunk.” Steampunk is a sub-culture that incorporates elements from both the Victorian era, where steam power was widely used and modern day technology. It’s similar to a Renaissance Fair where people dress up but this is based on a Victorian perspective. The tend to take various modern objects and modify them into a pseudo-Victorian style. Below in our pictures is a great example of a computer that has an old fashion typewriter for it’s keys. The goal is to redesign using appropriate materials such as polished brass, iron, wood and leather with craftsmanship consistent with the Victorian era. It’s soo hard to explain but maybe our pictures will help explain a little. If you are still interested in finding out more about Steampunk after you see the pictures.. well Google it! haha
These first pictures of our favorite costumes of the day…
Some of the items that have been made or modified Steampunk style…
The computer I was talking about… As you typed on the old typewriter the text would appear on the computer screen. It was awesome!
All made out of scrap metals…
