Over the past couple of years Dad has been in and out of the hospital/rehab for various reasons. One thing that stays constant is that while recovering we always play cribbage. It seems like the only two times I play cribbage is at the hospital/rehab or the beach! This hospital visit wasn’t any different. On Wednesday, when I showed up at the hospital I made sure I came with the cribbage board. We played several games and then Dad’s roommate, Al Major, started talking to us. He was saying that he played cribbage for over 50 years. He use to play every day while in the service. Was that a challenge? Sure was!!! We asked if he wanted to play 3 handed cribbage and he jumped at the chance! We set up the room so the little table was in between Dad’s chair and Al Major’s chair and I sat on Dad’s bed. The game was pretty evenly matched, we all took turns taking the lead. Then I got a 24 point hand that pushed me in the lead. I stayed there the rest of the game and ended up winning!!! It’s far and in between that I beat my dad at cribbage. And that day I not only beat my dad but a guy who’s been playing for over 50 years!! It was awesome!! We decided to play again and I WON AGAIN!! At this point Al Major quit! I guess he couldn’t handle being beat by a girl!!!
It was a great day in Hansen cribbage!!
