People Just Love Me…

Posted by Becky  Published in Uncategorized

So yesterday I came to CT to be with my parents as my dad goes through knee replacement surgery.  Noby and I had a late start and planned to meet my mom at the hospital.  We arrive and park on the third level, as I pull straight into my spot the car next to me is leaving.  I pull out the stroller, put Noby in and start to buckle him in when I notice a car TRYING to pull into the empty spot next to me.  All of a sudden the little Mazda is pushing our truck.  THE GUY TOTALLY HIT MY CAR WHILE I WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE.  Of course I start yelling for him to stop and a little old lady squeezes out of the front passagener seat, trying to direct him how to back up and move to the left a little.  Now I’m pissed.  The little old lady first tries to tell me that she doesn’t think they hit it and I told her as polietly as I could that I was standing right there and she DEFINATELY hit my car.  She asked what I wanted to do about it and went on to say that she was at the hospital because they found her sister on the floor and have to get inside.  I told her I wanted the insurance information, the old man PULLS OUT HIS WALLET AND LOOKS FOR THIS INSURANCE CARD!!!!!!  At that point I knew I was in trouble.  I decided to just exchange names, addresses, and phone numbers.  The little old lady tells me to come over her house one night and we could “figure it out.”  I told her absolutely not, that I live in Boston, that I was here to visit my father who is in surgery right now.  I told her I would call her later to figure out what to do after my husband has seen it.  So that was that, we exchanged info and I headed in to find my mom.

WELL we were waiting for my dad to come out of surgery and my phone rings.  “Hello??” “Hi this is *little old lady* and I wanted to know what your plans were for the car?”   “MAAM I AM STILL AT THE HOSPITAL AND HE HAS NOT SEEN IT YET.”  “What you haven’t been able to see your husband at the hospital yet?  What is he in for anyway?”   “I WILL CALL YOU LATER!”

So in the mean time I run outside to take pictures and email them to Ichiro.  We agree that it’s not that bad and that I should just call and tell the little old couple that we don’t plan on doing anything.  So I call…

Me:  Hello?  Little Old Lady?  This is Rebecca, I wanted to talk about the car.

Little Old Lady:  Oh Hi, Did your husband look at the car?

Me:  Yes and we decided that it’s not that bad.  We don’t plan on doing anything with the insurance.

Little Old Lady:  Well I really don’t think WE hit your car.  There was white scratches on your car and OUR car is not white.  I think you should look around for a different car.

Me:  WHAT? Umm?  I was standing.. OK Your right, thanks, please throw away my information, we will not be doing anything with the insurance.

Little Old Lady:  Ok, thanks, Please keep in touch.  If you are ever in West Hartford you should stop in.  We would love to see you.

Me: ????????????????????? ummmm ok? bye

Little Old Lady:  Bye
